Charlotte’s Web comes to the Smith Opera House Stage

The Smith Center for the Arts will present Charlotte’s Web at 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, May 21st, performed by Theatreworks USA. Charlotte’s Web is part of The Smith’s ArtSmart Educational Theatre Program.

While the 10 a.m. performance is sold out, tickets still remain for the noon show. Both performances take place at the Smith Opera House at 82 Seneca St., Geneva.

Theatreworks production of Charlotte’s Web is based on E.B. White’s loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. Wilbur has a problem: how to avoid winding up as pork chops! Charlotte, a fine writer and true friend, hits on a plan to fool Farmer Zuckerman she will create a miracle. Spinning the words “Some Pig” in her web, Charlotte weaves a solution which not only makes Wilbur a prize pig, but ensures his place on the farm forever. This treasured tale, featuring mad-cap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love, and the true meaning of friendship.

ArtSmart Educational Theatre Series provides educational shows specifically designed for school groups and are open to the general public. Children’s picture books and classic literature, United States history and world history, relevant social issues and experiences are all transformed and presented live on the Smith Opera House stage. This series is designed to encourage thinking, creativity and fun while complimenting school lessons. This ArtSmart show is generously sponsored by Lyons National Bank and The Delavan Foundation.

Theatreworks USA create theatrical experiences that are accessible to young and family audiences in diverse communities throughout New York City and North America. Learn more at https://twusa.org.
