Deputies continue search for missing teen

Authorities are attempting to locate an Arcadia teen, who was last seen in Newark. The teen was identified by police as Sarai B. Revelle, who was reported missing last week. Former Geneva Human Rights head fired from similar job in Tompkins County

Karen Baer, who directed the Geneva Human Rights Commission for 16 years, has been terminated from the same position in the Tompkins County Office of Human Rights. Tompkins County Administrator Jason Molino informed Baer of her immediate dismissal by way of a letter Monday. According to the Ithaca Voice newspaper, Molino said Baer was terminated because of her failure to participate in an official investigation, lack of accountability and failure to follow directives. Longtime state Sen. John DeFrancisco will not run for re-election

A day after suspending his gubernatorial campaign, state Sen. John DeFrancisco said he will not seek another term representing the 50th Senate District. DeFrancisco, R-DeWitt, previously said it was “unlikely” he would run for re-election even if he didn’t secure the Republican nomination for governor. If he won the GOP gubernatorial nod, he would be prohibited from running for governor and seeking another state Senate term. [Continue reading here]

Proposal to ‘bag’ plastic bags in New York gets controversial

Do plastic bags bother you? A piece of legislation introduced this session is raising red flags among the business community. A ban on single-use plastic bags would put another unnecessary burden on taxpayers and small businesses, according to opponents. However, supporters say something has to be done about wasteful usage. Truck accidents in Genoa, Canandaigua

A pair of truck accidents, involving tractor-trailers created a traffic snag last week – as one failed to make it through an underpass in Canandaigua; while another overturned on a country road in Genoa. No injuries were reported in either accident, but traffic disruption in Canandaigua, which was at least the third reported truck to be stuck under the West Ave. rail bridge caused headaches for those trying to navigate the city. Buffalo Bills pick Josh Allen to lead franchise

Buffalo is seen by most NFL observers as a small market. In comparison to cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago it undoubtedly is. For Bills newest QB Josh Allen, it’ll be the biggest town he’s ever lived in. Shortly after making him the seventh pick in the draft, GM Brandon Beane said Josh Allen “is Buffalo,” but what convinced him and the Bills brass that the Wyoming quarterback was a match for their club? After doing all their work on the 6-5 signal caller with a rocket arm, a high football IQ and an engaging personality, Buffalo feels they have a future leader at the most important position on the field, and so does Allen’s college coach.
