Butler man arrested on felony drug charges after home visit by probation

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 60-year-old Butler man on a number of drug charges this week.

Douglas Duane Brown, 60. of Butler was being supervised by the Wayne County Probation Department due to a felony conviction in 2015 for attempted possession of a narcotic drug.

During a routine home visit by probation officers — Brown was found to be in possession of more than 10 grams of crack cocaine, two ounces of marijuana, various packaging and weighing paraphernalia.

Brown was turned over to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was ultimately charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Brown was arraigned and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
