Sheriff Luce: Woman faces 16 charges after stealing credit cards, using them 172 times

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce says a Rochester woman was taken into custody on Tuesday after an extensive investigation into stolen credit cards at the del Lago Resort & Casino.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. investigators arrested a 41-year-old woman on multiple charges related to the use of stolen credit cards after an incident last year.

Michelle M. Richardson, 41, was charged with first-degree identity theft, a Class D felony, three counts of second-degree identity theft, Class E felonies, four counts of third-degree identity theft, three counts of grand larceny, and five counts of petit larceny after stealing a purse, which contained cash, a cell phone, and eight credit cards.

The purse was stolen at the del Lago Resort & Casino on December 21st, 2017, and subsequently used the stolen credit cards on 172 occasions at various stores throughout Monroe County. Altogether more than $7,195 in property was stolen via the credit cards.

Richardson was arraigned in Tyre Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 secured bond.

Additional charges could be levied against Richardson, according to investigators, who say the case remains open.
