Scott Noren, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon from Ithaca, is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently occupied by democratic senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
Noren has been a health care provider for nearly two decades and served the U.S. Army for six years until 2003, a press release stated.
The surgeon running for office is focusing especially on health care affordability and accessibility, the news release stated.
"Without affordable health care, living wage jobs in NY and nationwide will not grow," Noren said in the press release.
