Planning for July Convention Days begins Feb. 12

Planning for the annual Convention Days celebration is getting started five months in advance.

A community meeting is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, 136 Fall St.

The annual celebration, which is set for July 20-22, commemorates the first women’s rights convention, which was held July 19-20, 1848, at the old Wesleyan Chapel.

This year’s theme, “You Have Pens and Voices,” comes from an 1841 call to action by women’s rights activist Lucretia Mott, an organizer of the Seneca Falls convention. Mott wrote of a call for action on women’s rights and against slavery.
