Midlakes girls beat Pal-Mac; Justice Smith notches triple-double at Sodus (W-FL round-up 2/5)

Midlakes took a big step towards clinching the Finger Lakes East girls varsity basketball title with a 65-50 win over second-place Pal-Mac in Clifton Springs on Monday night. Alaina Forbes scored a game high 27 points and Cara Walker added 18 as the Lady Screaming Eagles cruised to a perfect 16-0. Brandi Morrison led the way for Pal-Mac in the loss with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Katie Smyth missed her third consecutive game for Pal-Mac due to injury. Next up for Coach Nate Rich’s Midlakes squad is a trip to Penn Yan on Wednesday night.

The only intra-league boys contest of the night saw Lyons picking up a win in a difficult venue, defeating Sodus 65-48. Justice Smith recording his fourth triple-double of the season finishing with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. David Weaver led all scorers with 20 points on five three pointers and Jordan Harris scored 10 points to go along with 10 rebounds. For Sodus, Lonnie Logan led the way with 18 points in the loss. The Lyons win pulls them into a tie with Clyde-Savannah at 12-1 atop the Wayne County standings. Lyons will visit Clyde-Savannah on Thursday night in a game that can be seen live on FingerLakes1.com. On Tuesday night Lyons hosts Williamson and C-S is at North Rose-Wolcott.
