Drivers escape injury after head-on crash in Canandaigua; one charged with DWI after investigation

On Thursday at approximately 5:56 p.m. members of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash at 3180 Hopkins Road in Canandaigua.

According to deputies, it was determined that Christopher H. Griswold, 43, of Hopewell was operating a 2005 Hyundai Elantra, which struck a 2011 Ford Taurus driven by Brittany Cold, 28, of Canandaigua.

The collision was a head-on, according to deputies reporting the incident to media.

As result, East Bloomfield Fire and EMS responded along with Canandaigua EMS. All parties were checked over, released, and without serious injury — but the Hopewell driver was found to be intoxicated.

Griswold was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued a traffic ticket for speed not reasonable — as well as a ticket for driving without insurance.

He will answer the charges in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
