Feds: Canandaigua man had 1,130 images of child porn on devices

Federal prosecutors say a 45-year-old Canandaigua man was arrested on Thursday and charged with having hundreds of photos of child pornography.

Eric Laube, 45, of Canandaigua was charged with receipt, distribution and possession of child pornography. Prosecutors say in 2017, an undercover FBI officer noticed a device was being used to distribute video and picture files containing child porn.

That device was later determined to be connected to Laube.

In December, agents executed a federal search warrant at his home on State Route 64 in Canandaigua. Digital devices were seized at his home, which included two portable hard drives, a thumb drive, laptop and desktop computer — hosting approximately 1,130 images of child pornography — as well as nearly a dozen videos.

He was arrested and released on electronic monitoring.

Laube faces a minimum of five years in prison, as well as a $250,000 fine — if convicted on the charges.

The FBI worked with Rochester Police, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department to make the arrest.
