Like many upstate communities, this Seneca County town is plagued by aging infrastructure. Its streets, roads, bridges, water lines and sewer lines require much-needed upgrades.
Many of them were inherited when the town assumed the village of Seneca Falls, which dissolved at the end of 2011.
The town contracts with Liverpool-based Barton & Loguidice for its infrastructure issues. Barton & Loguidice representatives will lead a public information session on the status of infrastructure projects that are either underway or in the planning stages at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in the 130 Ovid St. Municipal Building.
Given the current legal situation involving the town and Seneca Meadows Landfill, it is as yet unclear how the town will pay for infrastructure upgrades.
One of the infrastructure projects on the table is a new sanitary sewer line from the Route 318 and 414 area in Tyre down Route 414, to River Road, and then east to West Bayard Street.
