Seneca Falls PD: Homeless man resisted arrest, possessed narcotics during incident

Police say a homeless man was arrested in Seneca Falls after they received a call for an intoxicated person causing a disturbance.

According to Seneca Falls Police, David J. Markel, 37, refused to leave a residence on State Route 5&20 after being asked to leave by the tenant. Police say the tenant and law enforcement asked him to leave the residence, but Markel did not cooperate.

They say he also didn’t cooperate when several requests were made to arrest him. When Markel was taken into custody he was found to be possessing two different narcotics.

He was charged with second-degree trespass, resisting arrest, harassment and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Jail.
