Ithaca firefighters contained and extinguished a fire Tuesday at an apartment building at 211 Linden Ave. in Collegetown.
No injuries were reported from the fire because all occupants were away for their holiday break, firefighters said.
Firefighters responded to the building at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for a fire alarm, authorities said. They went into the building to investigate and found heavy smoke in the hallway.
The fire was found and contained to a utility room on the fifth floor, firefighters said.
