Owasco Lake council amends bylaws in midst of paused inspection program transfer

The Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council passed amendments to its bylaws Tuesday, perhaps making it a step closer to satisfying parties involved with the potential transfer of the watershed’s inspection program.

Errors in the bylaws were brought to the management council’s attention in November during the council’s effort to take on the Owasco Lake Watershed Inspection Program from the Cayuga County Soil and Water District.

The management council was created by Cayuga County, the city of Auburn and the town of Owasco to run the inspection program, which enforces the rules and regulations of the watershed. The management council officially became a nonprofit organization this year, and thus began the process of transferring ownership.
