With Christmas break fast approaching, Wayne-Finger Lakes boys and girls basketball teams are positioning themselves in league standings prior to taking a few days off an heading to holiday tournaments and showcases next week. Tuesday night’s line-up of games featured a pair of cross-town rivalry games in Seneca County and a huge match-up at the top of the Wayne County league. TUESDAY NIGHT BOYS SCOREBOARD:
LYONS 64 @ EAST ROCHESTER 76
East Rochester scored 47 second half points to pull away from Lyons and bounce-back from Monday night’s loss to Clyde-Savannah. Matt Cicero led the Bombers with 22 points and the Lions had no answer for John Lexer inside as he finished with 17. Ben Pope and Alex Rans added 12 each. For Lyons Justice Smith scored 22 points, Kerel Kelly had 11 and Justin Smith and David Weaver each scored 9 points. The loss is the second of the young season for Lyons and the first blemish on their Wayne County league record. East Rochester improves to 4-1 and currently sits one-half game behind Clyde-Savannah in the Wayne County standings.

Midlakes improved to 3-3 and 2-1 in the FL East with a seven-point win over Geneva. Bryce Burri led all scorers with 22 points and 5 assists. Dan VanNostrand scored 20. For Geneva, Christian Tapscott was in double-digits for the second straight game with 10 points and big man Akim Hudson scored 10 as well. Geneva falls to 3-4 and 0-3 in FL East competition.
NAPLES 66 @ HONEOYE 74
Jon Marble led honeoye with 25 points, Max Yale scored 22 and Jonny Viera scored 12. For Naples, Cole Rathbun scored 19 points, Evan Bay scored 17 and Nick Green finished with 15.

The South Seneca Lady Falcons bounced back from two-straight losses with a win over rival Romulus in the Jack Guinan Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Emma Fletcher led South Seneca with 17 points, Skylar Shaulis scored 10 points, dished out 6 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds. Jade Parsons hauled in 18 rebounds.
WATERLOO 40 @ MYNDERSE 49
Mynderse jumped out to a 15-5 lead after one quarter of play and Waterloo could never close the gap at the Arthur L. Baker Gymnasium in Seneca Falls. Hannah Brown-Trice led all scorers with a season-high 20 points and senior Heidi Miller scored 16. Mynderse won the game without converting on a single three-point attempt. For Waterloo, Logan Castiglione scored 15, Kari Jensen scored 14 with 3 three-pointers, and sophomore Jillian Panek scored 9.

Red Jacket continued their dominant start to the season, improving to 7-0, with a 46 point win over Dundee on Tuesday night. Sara VanAken led all scorers with 20 points. Sydney Close scored 13, Alexis Gardner had 12 and Brookelyn Hanley added 10. For Dundee, Mackenzie Strait scored 16 points.
