The Wayne County boys league got into full-swing on Thursday night and the fireworks were flying along the Route 31.
In Clyde, the C-S Golden Eagles shook-off an early 9-point deficit to visiting Gananda and exploded past the Blue Panthers for a 81-53 win. Derrick Chance was the game’s leading scorer with 33 points as he proved to be virtually unguardable. When Derrick wasn’t scoring at the rim or from beyond the arc his brother and fellow senior Marcus Chance was lighting up the scoreboard finishing with 20 points. And if Gananda hadn’t had their fill of the Chance brothers, Derrick and Marcus’ younger brother, freshman Cam Chance, scored 12 points of his own. C-S senior Dru Carnevale had been nursing a sprained ankle but entered the game mid-first quarter and ended with 12 points and a pair of highlight reel blocked shots. Gananda was led by Jaden Castrechini’s 13 point effort while teammates Steve Heumann and Henry Bush added 10 points each. You can watch the full replay of Clyde-Savannah’s win over Gananda here.
After the game, Derrick Chance joined FL1 Sports’ Jim Sinicropi & Kevin Sharp on the Dr. Rod Littlejohn Smiles with Style Postgame Show…
Just a few miles down Route 31 to the west, Clyde-Savannah’s perennial rival the Lyons Lions were making some noise in the Atwood Gymnasium during their 84-28 rout of Marion. Lions junior David Weaver was unconscious from long range knocking down 10 three-pointers on the night while fellow junior Justice Smith brought the roof down with this two-handed posterizing dunk…
