The Rhinos lost their USL Hall-of-Fame coach on Tuesday in a surprise announcement that Bob Lilley is going to coach the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
How the Rhinos’ shaky future impacted that move is expected to be part of what team owners David and Wendy Dworkin address during a Wednesday afternoon news conference at the team’s office. The second-year owners will “explain the critical needs of our organization and where things stand,” they said in a statement issued by the team along with the announcement that Lilley, their head coach for six years and man who led the Rhinos back to a championship in 2015, has departed. He’s leaving a perennial power on the pitch to coach a club that finished 13th in the 15-team USL Eastern Conference last season.
