Scott Barker’s playing days have long passed but that won’t lessen the “butterflies” he’ll have as the high school football season opens Thursday, followed by a full slates of games slated to kick off locally Friday and Saturday.
Barker, athletic director for the Pittsford Central School District, is the new Section V football chairman. Dick Cerone held the same position for 43 seasons — including the three varsity seasons Barker played quarterback in high school — before retiring, although he remains an adviser to Barker and the Section V football committee.
