Lyons Lions down Mynderse in football opener

Geneva grad Shane Sweeney snags Liberty League award

Hobart College junior quarterback Shane Sweeney was named the Liberty League Football Offensive Performer of the Week by the conference office today. Sweeney was 31-of-45 passing for a career-high 420 yards and four touchdowns in Hobart’s 41-35 season-opening win at Brockport. The Lyons vs. Marcus Whitman game was moved from Saturday night to Sunday after an issue with the lights in Lyons. The Lions ended up getting a 26-19 win. Fourth quarter push lifts Groton over Lansing

The Groton Indians’ two-back combo was at it again Friday night, running wild against the Lansing Bobcats at Ross Field en route to a 38-20 victory and an undefeated two-game start to the season. Groton led Lansing 18-14 with minutes to go in the third quarter before tearing apart the field in the fourth as Lansing (0-2) struggled with injuries.... more
