Audit says Casella owes Ontario County $448

An independent audit shows that Casella Waste Systems underpaid Ontario County by $448.14 in 2016 under the community host benefits agreement for its operation and management of the Ontario County Landfill in the town of Seneca.

The audit report will be presented at the 1:30 p.m. Monday meeting of the Planning and Environmental Quality Committee of the county Board of Supervisors.

It was completed by James Daigler of Daigler Engineering of Grand Island and covers the 2016 calendar year. The county receives a formula-based share of the per ton tipping fee charged haulers by Casella.

The committee will also receive an update on implementation of the county’s 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan from Carla Jordan of the county Planning Department.

Casella officials will give a landfill status report and 2018 budgets will be proposed for Cornell Cooperative Extension, tourism promotion, the Soil & Water Conservation District and economic development efforts.
