Winery digs into Linden Street food scene

When the small Linden Street restaurant Cebo closed earlier this year, it gave skeptics the opportunity to suggest that the success of the emerging city dining and drinking hub had been overstated.

They didn’t have much of a chance to spout off. The spot at 34 Linden St. got gobbled up in no time by the folks who own Three Brothers Winery in Fayette, which, if you have not visited, is kind of like the Disneyland of Finger Lakes wineries.

The Linden Street space is being transformed into a new restaurant called the H.J. Stead Company, in honor of the former optical company that once occupied the same storefront.

H.J. Stead is in the process of getting its liquor license and will open shortly after that.

The restaurant represents Three Brothers’ first true foray into the food business.
