A wild ride: Recent graduates helped bring Hobart College rowing program to the next level

There is a group of Hobart College athletes who compete against some of the biggest schools in the country — and these Statesmen don’t play on Boswell Field.

Instead, they train on Seneca Lake, competing in bodies of water across the country.

The Statesmen’s rowing team wrapped up a successful 2017 season recently. While doing so, the Class of 2017 completed an incredible four-year run, both in the classroom and on the water.

Julia Dexter, John Schenk, Austin Letorney, Griffin Marsh, John Hibbard, Julien Green and Matthew Sylvan graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in May. In reality, their time in college ended June 4 on the Gold River in Sacramento, Calif., at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.
