A Huron man was found to be illegally possessing drugs, firearms, and other items after a family court order of protection was served on him.
Daniel P. Spencer, 28, of Huron was served the order of protection, which included a condition for him to turn over all of his firearms.
While collecting the weapons, deputies smelled the strong odor of marijuana at the residence. A search warrant was requested after law enforcement noted that Spencer only turned over ten guns.
When a search was executed, they discovered several more long guns, as well as three hand guns. None of the weapons were registered to Spencer, according to deputies.
Deputies say they located more than a pound of marijuana, as well as prescription pain pills illegally possessed, suspected LSD, and “Molly,” which is a derivative of MDMA, along with an unspecified amount of U.S. currency.
A quantity of the substance tannerite, commonly used with target shooting, was also located on site. A consultation with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Explosives Unit deemed the amount possessed to be large and they responded to secure the tannerite along with some aerial display fireworks, until the disposition of the investigation.
Spencer was charged with felony criminal possession of a firearm, and was arraigned in Huron Town Court.
Further investigation and charges are expected.
