Cato man charged with sexually abusing girls accused of trying to silence victims

A man charged with sexually assaulting young girls is now attempting to silence his victims, the district attorney said.

William Lewis, 30, of Cato, pleaded not guilty Thursday to three felonies — one count of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child — and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Lewis was arrested in March following an investigation with Cayuga County Child Protective Services, which revealed that Lewis allegedly engaged in years of sexual behavior with three preteen girls.
