Bloomfield woman failed to list investment accounts, charged with welfare fraud

A Bloomfield woman is accused of failing to list all of her resources on an application for public assistance, which resulted in multiple charges.

Deputies in Ontario County arrested Catherine A. Arner, 60, of Bloomfield on two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and third-degree welfare fraud.

Arner is accused of submitting applications for cash assistance that contained false information concerning her resources. She failed to list investment accounts, and resulted in the larceny of $3,552 in public assistance from Ontario County.

She was arraigned in Hopewell Town Court and released. The charges will be answered at a later date.
