A 39-year-old Farmington woman was charged with DWI Leandra’s Law after she was found to be intoxicated, with a child in the vehicle she was operating.
Deputies charged Petal L. Sharp, 39, of Farmington with aggravated driving while intoxicated – child less than 15-years-old in the vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, disorderly conduct, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, harassment and failure to comply with a police officer.
Deputies say that Sharp failed to stop for deputies after she left the scene of a disturbance, which involved a second individual identified as James Toole, 45, which took place at Roseland Bowling Alley.
Toole was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, after that incident.
Deputies say after Sharp finally stopped, she was found to be driving while intoxicated with her 7-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
Sharp also had a conditional license, pending court prosecution for blood alcohol count on a separate incident. When stopped and questioned about the incident at the bowling alley, Sharp allegedly yelled profanity at the officer.
She then resisted the lawful arrest of herself by deputies, elbowing a deputy in the face and kicking another in the arm. She was transported to the Ontario County Jail by deputies where she then refused to submit to a breath test.
Sharp was arraigned in Canandaigua City Court and will answer the charges at a later date.
