The Seneca Falls Elks Lodge welcomed seven new members at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017.
The meeting was held inside the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge meeting room with a packed house. A celebratory meal was held at the lodge for members and those incoming members, which was prepared by Steve Marsh and his crew of volunteers.
Marsh chairs the House Committee and provides a meal on initiation night every time the lodge welcomes new members.
“This is a great first step for us as a lodge this year,” said Exalted Ruler Brandon Bond, who oversaw his first ever initiation as leader of the order. “This is the kind of energy and the kind of dedication we want to see moving forward.”
The members-only ceremony was well-attended, as most initiation meetings lean.
“It’s great to see so many people turn out for an event like this,” added State Vice President, and P.E.R. Robert Erway. “This is what makes the Elks Lodge special.”
“I have to thank all of the officers, the kitchen crew, and everyone who made this night go so smoothly,” added Bond. “I hope this is something we get to do more frequently than in years past, because it means we’re doing the right things as a club.”
Bond hopes to hold regular initiation meetings throughout the year to provide ample opportunity for new members to join the club. The full-slate of officers at the lodge are relative newcomers, which is great to see. Only one of the core officers is a P.E.R., which is unusual for lodges around the area.
“Seeing new faces move through the chairs at our lodge and get involved is a great sign,” added Trustee and P.E.R. Warren Fredrickson.
“I’m excited to begin making a difference and can’t wait to get involved,” Linda Lawrence, one of those new members, said after the initiation ceremony.
