The Geneva City School District has selected a new North Street School principal.
Eric Vaillancourt, the assistant principal at the A.D. Oliver Middle School in the Brockport Central School District, was selected for the position pending board of education approval. Tracy Marchionda, the district’s director of innovative programming, has been serving as the acting principal since August 2016.
A team of students, staff, parents and school board members interviewed several applicants. “This was a difficult decision due to the exceptionally competitive candidates, but I am confident that Mr. Vaillancourt will be a good fit for North Street,” said Superintendent Trina Newton. “He was extremely excited to accept the position, and I know he is eagerly awaiting a chance to meet everyone here.”
Prior to his current position, Vaillancourt was the coordinator of supplemental services at Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES in Newark (2013–14), an administrative intern as the director of curriculum and instruction and as the middle school assistant principal at Palmyra-Macedon Central School District (2012–2013), and an instructional coach at Palmyra-Macedon Middle School (2011–2013). He also worked as a social studies teacher in the middle and high school there (2007–14).
