Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education candidates Eli Hernandez and Rhoda Overstreet-Wilson both said they support the proposed 2017-2018 budget.
Overstreet-Wilson said she supports the budget and the proposed 3.98-percent property tax levy increase that the board voted for in light of the district’s $3.6 million deficit.
“When I think about in totality, what has to happen, we definitely need to think about the care and the the structure of our school program and putting the kids first, and if this board believes that this is the best way to meet that need, then as an incoming board member, I will support that,” Overstreet-Wilson said.
The candidates discussed the budget and other topics at the Auburn School Board Candidate Forum at Cayuga Community College Tuesday.
