Jazz in the Church ‘a gift to the community,’ says pastor

If God were in a band, said the Rev. Cam Miller, pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church, jazz would be the Almighty’s choice of music.

Jazz is improvisational but within a pattern, Miller said, nothing that is the way God works.

“It’s a natural link,” he said.

The music of God, as Miller calls it, comes to the historic church on South Main Street Thursday, when it hosts Jazz in the Church, featuring the Krista Seddon Quartet, featuring Bobby Militello.

“It’s a gift to the community,” said Miller, who noted that the performance will take place in Trinity’s spectacular sanctuary, which he said has “otherworldly acoustics,” and “with the addition of candlelight, offers an absolutely unique experience for concertgoers in Geneva.”
