After Sennett outdoor fire, Cuomo says NY brush burning ban remains in effect

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is warning New Yorkers about the risk of wildfires with warmer temperatures expected this spring.

A statewide residential brush burning ban is in effect until May 14. Cuomo also advised residents in eastern New York that there’s the potential for wildfire conditions through 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Dryer, warmer conditions combined with gusty winds increases the risk for wildfires.

“The residential brush burning ban in effect until mid-May will help protect the health and well-being of both New Yorkers and first responders, as warm weather conditions are expected this spring,” Cuomo said in a statement.
