Penn Yan man charged with attempted rape of 12-year-old in Seneca Falls

New York State Police say they arrested a 23-year-old Penn Yan man after he attempted to engage a 12-year-old female in sexual contact.

Police say Jeremiah Tomion, 23, of Penn Yan was arrested in Seneca Falls for first-degree attempted rape — a Class E felony, as well as first-degree attempted disseminating indecent material to minors — also a Class E felony.

The charges stem from an incident where he attempted to engage a 12-year-old female in sexual contact.

He was taken into custody by the New York State Police, as well as the Seneca Falls Police Department prior to Tomion having any contact with the minor.

He was remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.

All charges will be answered at a later date.
