Uber is due to arrive in the Rochester area this summer. The ridesharing service is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the area. If you are interested in becoming a driver for ridesharing services like Uber or Lyft, there are limitations and guidelines involved.
“You want to make sure you have clean, reliable and safe transportation,” said Chad Snowden, a former Lyft driver. “The next thing you need to have is a smartphone and the Lyft app.” Snowden drove for Lyft in the three-months it operated in the Rochester area. It suspended operations in 2014.
For both Uber and Lyft, a valid commercial driver’s license is required. Drivers must also have basic insurance, be 21 years or over and undergo a background check.
