DA honors 5 at Ontario County crime victims’ rights ceremony

Last month, a Geneva man was sentenced to a potential life term in prison for sexually abusing preteen girls.

Five people who played a role in putting that man behind bars, including a Geneva Middle School student whose friend was one of the victims, were honored Friday during Ontario County’s annual crime victims’ rights ceremony.

District Attorney R. Michael Tantillo praised the student, Natalie Hunsberger, who learned of the abuse and told her mother, Nicole. She contacted police, who started an investigation that led to the arrest and conviction of Anthony Calabrese, 32, of North Genesee Street.

“Natalie is the essence of a true friend,” said Tantillo, who called Calabrese one of the most predatory child sexual offenders the county has ever seen. “Because of Natalie and Nicole, their community is much safer.”
