It’s going to be a soggy, dreary Friday in the Finger Lakes.
Rain will dominate the forecast as temperatures struggle to climb throughout the day. The rain should taper off by evening hours, but that will leave plenty of time for the region to feel a long, soaking rainfall.
FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil had this to say on Friday about the forecast:
“An area of low pressure over the Ohio Valley will slowly track northeast today. A large area of rain is spread to the east and north of this low.
With the low expected to pass across Pennsylvania, the Finger Lakes will likely be locked in the precipitation for all of the daytime hours Friday, as well as much as the evening.
Temperatures this morning are in the mid and upper 30s and will only rise a little during the course of the day. Temperatures above the surface are also above freezing and trending warmer, so there is no concern for mixed precipitation in our region. Further east, towards the I-88 corridor, some ice will be possible.
Total rain amounts today and tonight should range between 1-1.5 inches. Flooding is not expected, though some ponding in poor drainage areas will be possible. Just southeast of the Finger Lakes, flood watches are in effect for some minor river flooding.”
