Canandaigua woman accused of stealing thousands in SNAP benefits

On March 28th a Canandaigua woman was charged with grand larceny following an investigation into illegally received assistance from the Ontario County Department of Social Services.

Deputies say that April L. Spehar, 33, of Canandaigua was charged with third-degree grand larceny after failing to report her income from October 2015 until March 2016. She received a total of $4,595.92 in SNAP and medical assistance, to which she was not entitled.

She was arraigned in Hopewell Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She will appear in Hopewell Town Court.
