DEC crews will sample rainbow trout in Naples Creek on Thursday

That annual rite of spring known as rainbow trout “shocking’’ will take place Thursday, March 23 and Friday, March 24.

Crews from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s fisheries division in Avon will sample the run of fish in two key Finger Lakes tributaries in advance of Opening Day for fishing on inland waters on April 1.

Naples Creek, starting at the Route 245 bridge just north of the Village of Naples, is scheduled for sampling starting at 9 a.m. Thursday.
