Auburn man denies setting fire that destroyed Cayuga County home

An Auburn man has denied setting a fire that destroyed a two-family home in Cayuga County.

Ryan Wilson pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one count of second-degree arson. The 30-year-old was arrested late last year after police said he set fire to his Auburn apartment.

According to the Auburn Police Department, at around 3 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2016, Wilson intentionally set a fire in his downstairs apartment at 7 West St. after an argument with another occupant of the home. The fire quickly spread throughout the whole house, displacing 10 people who lived in the home as well as six occupants of the house next door. Two dogs and a hamster died in the fire.
