Auburn man admits sending threatening texts, striking ex-girlfriend with shovel

An Auburn man pleaded guilty to four felonies Tuesday for violating an order of protection against his ex-girlfriend.

 Craig Laird, 28, of Auburn, was initially charged with nine felonies for repeatedly harassing a 24-year-old woman in Auburn. However, Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann allowed Laird to plead guilty to two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and two counts of aggravated family offense in full satisfaction of the charges.
