Feds: Canandaigua VA psychiatrist accused of defrauding provider out of $200K

Canandaigua VA

A psychiatrist at the Canandaigua Veterans Affairs Medical Center has been charged with healthcare fraud, money laundering and tax fraud.

According to federal prosecutors Dr. Xingjia Cui, 52, of Pittsford billed a health care provider for $198,820 for services he didn’t even conduct.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Rochester is handling the case and Cui will appear before a federal judge on May 24th.

He’s accused of providing private services that were never performed on any patients.

Little information is available, but Cui also had a private practice, according to prosecutors. It’s unclear if that practice was involved in the scheme.

More information will be provided as it’s made available by officials.
