Middlesex man arrested after traffic stop on CR 50

A 21-year-old Middlesex man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on County Rd. 50 in Canandaigua.

Deputies say that Andrew J. Bell, 21, of Middlesex was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped on County Rd. 50 where he was observed operating a motor vehicle without an inspection sticker on the front windshield.

He had a temporary inspection sticker for the vehicle on the dash, which was not affixed to the windshield as required by law.

Deputies say they spotted a plastic bag in the front seat, which contained a green, leafy substance. It tested positive for marijuana, and Bell was put through a series of standard field sobriety tests.

He showed significant signs of impairment, according to deputies. He was also tested for alcohol, but was shown to have none in his system.

Bell was transported to the Ontario County Jail and later released to a third-party. He will answer the charges in Canandaigua Town Court.
