A New York law says saving the lives of people who overdose is more important than arresting the people they're with for having drugs.
A Canandaigua man says if more people knew about the 911 Good Samaritan Law, his family might have been spared unspeakable grief. "We never heard of it. Most everyone I know has never heard of it," Tim Wolfanger told 13WHAM News.
After breaking three vertebrae in an accident, Sara Ashworth became addicted to pain medication. That led to heroin use, and, in April, an overdose. "We all ran to the hospital, and you can tell when they take you to that side room and they don't want to give you any information that she's dead," said Wolfanger.
