Sheriff’s deputies say you might want to double check to make sure your money is real. Deputies in Tompkins County said fake $100 bills are being passed around the county. They are advising the public to be aware when processing and accepting large bills.
In a statement on Thursday, the department released the following statement:
“The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office has recently dealt with a case of fraudulent $100, marked “For Motion Picture Use Only”. Please see the article below referring to a similar case in other areas of the country. When processing/accepting large bills, please review them thoroughly. Thank you.”
