The H.A.C. Wolves have been playing their best basketball in several seasons. They would put their three-game winning streak on the line Monday afternoon when they welcomed Finger Lakes West leading Marcus Whitman into their gymnasium. After three quarters it looked like the Wolves might do the improbably and hand the Wildcats their first league loss.
Whitman trailed 52-51 after three quarters of play but poured in on in the final period to runaway from H.A.C. by a final score of 69-56.
Riley McLoud led the Wildcats with 19 points while point guard Nick Young scored 15. Whitman improves to 9-2, 7-0 in league play, and entered the week ranked #6 in the FL1 Sports W-FL Boys Basketball Power Rankings.
For the Wolves (3-7), Jamarr Paisley scored a game-high 19 points and Xavier Israel had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Next up for Marcus Whitman is 2nd place #10 Dundee who will travel to Rushville on Wednesday night.
In the only girls game of the night, Penn Yan fell short at Aquinas.
