Canandaigua crash caused by medical emergency; one transported to Strong Hospital

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports taht they were called to a personal injury crash on County Road 22 and State Route 21 in Canandaigua on Tuesday around 12:30 pm.

Deputies say that Carla Williams, 70, of Canandaigua was stopped at a stop sign facing north on County Road 22 waiting for traffic to clear on Route 21 when Kristin Glor, 24, of Canandaigua lost control of her vehicle — also traveling north on County Road 22 due to an illness.

Her vehicle failed to stop and struck Williams’ car from behind — pushing it through the intersection into an embankment across the road.

The Canandaigua Fire Department responded to the scene. Williams reportedly suffered a broken leg in the accident, and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Canandaigua Ambulance.

Both parties were wearing seat belts and the airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Glor was issued two traffic violations; one for following to closely and another for failing to stop at a stop sign.

The charges will be answered in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.
