Investigators say that a 22-year-old Geneva man was pronounced dead at the scene after an accident, which took place on Wednesday around 9:31 pm in the Town of Springport.
The accident happened on State Route 326 when Alex J. Myers, 28, of Union Springs lost control of his 1999 Audi while traveling south on Route 326. He lost control on a curve south of Web Road crossing into the path of a northbound snow plow, being operated by Craig R. Foster, 58, of Cayuga. The car was struck by the plow blade perpendicularly across the passenger side and then spun off the roadway.
Myers was transported to Upstate University Hospital with non-critical injuries; while the passenger in the car, Jeffrey L. Bennett, 22, of Geneva was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger of the snow plow, which was a Cayuga County vehicle, was identified as Scott A. Carey, 53, of Montezuma. He was uninjured in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
