An attempted burglary of a home in Dryden early Sunday morning was thwarted after the homeowner was awoken by the sound of breaking glass, the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office announced Monday. At around 4:49 a.m. Sunday, deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office and officers from Tompkins Cortland Community College Police responded to a home on Portzline Drive, which is located near the entrance to the college, for a reported burglary in progress.
