John Flanagan will continue to lead the state Senate Republican conference. Flanagan, R-Smithtown, was unanimously re-elected to serve as GOP leader. He was nominated by state Sen. John DeFrancisco, who challenged him for the post last year.
"After a campaign in which we faced extraordinary challenges and yet still managed to grow our majority in a presidential year, I couldn't be more proud to lead this outstanding group of lawmakers," Flanagan said in a statement.
