Students from the local school district hit the streets during the district’s first year of participating in National Walk to School Day Oct. 5. This was the 20th year that the National Center for Safe Routes to School has sponsored the program. Staff, students and families throughout the school district participated in the walk. At the middle/high school, approximately 100 people walked to school. Students who ride a school bus were dropped off at the Lyons Community Center so they could join in the festivities.
