Public water tests for Owasco and Auburn show no toxins over the weekend

The Cayuga County Health Department said test results for blue-green algae toxins in Auburn and Owasco’s treated water samples collected Saturday and Sunday showed no detectable toxin levels. Eileen O’Connor, director of Environmental Health for the county, said the lab where those samples are processed was closed Sunday, which caused the delay.

Samples collected from the town of Owasco and the city of Auburn’s treated water were found to have no detectable levels of toxins from samples collected on Friday. For the town of Owasco and Fleming’s Water District, especially, this has been positive news after several days of low but detectable levels in residents’ drinking water.
