The Auburn Police Department is continuing to fill its ranks since Chief Shawn Butler was promoted to his post in June. James Slayton was sworn in Thursday to the position of lieutenant during Thursday night's Auburn City Council meeting. The promotion comes after former lieutenant Roger Anthony was appointed by Butler to the position of deputy chief last month.
